The A.G.M. for the Trout Anglers Federation of Ireland took place at the Shamrock Lodge Hotel, Athlone on Sunday 13th February 2011.  The newly elected officers for 2011 are shown on the Elected Officers page.  The National Secretary’s Report and the Minutes of the 2010 A.G.M. will be added in due course.

A number of motions were passed at the A.G.M. and are stated as below.

  1. The A.G.M. establishes a Strategic Planning Sub-Committee to advise Central Council on the future development of T.A.F.I. and that this sub-committee will be representative of all four Provincial Councils.
  2. The A.G.M. establishes a Strategic Financial Sub-Committee to advise Central Council on the financial policy for the organisation and shall consist of the National Treasurer and the Treasurers of all four Provincial Councils.
  3. The World/European Teams will be picked in accordance with the format of the appropriate championship (ratio of rivers/lake).  The Top five anglers from the Lake/River Inter-Provincials shall be the team to represent Ireland in the World Championship.  The next five anglers shall then be the team to represent Ireland in the European Championship.  The 11th angler will be the substitute for the World Championship and the 12th angler will be the substitute for the European Championship.  The substitutes will come from the majority discpline (lake/river).
  4. Selection to the position of Captains for Irish Teams should be from persons who have served or contributed to the Trout Anglers Federation of Ireland at Central Council or Provincial Council.  The role of Captain will be an administrative one that will be backed up by a code of ethics.
  5. The Trout Anglers Federation of Ireland recognises and supports members living within the Counties of Antrim, Armagh, Derry, Down, Tyrone and Fermanagh to fish the Commonwealth Games.
  6. Whatever country accepts a World or European Championship should make details of the competition available to member countries no later than six months after accepting the event.  Member countries should not be considered for a World or European event unless the relevant information is available in the time frame laid down.  To be forwarded to Fips-Mouche.
  7. No Inter-Provincial River or Lake Championship be held while T.A.F.I. teams are away competing at World or European Championships.

Captains were also agreed on for the World Championships for 2012 and 2013 and the European Championship for 2013.
